| Classic T
The new Classic T (116cm) has a classically elegant cabinet and uses
Kemble's tonally superb K116 scale; it represents excellent value.
The 'heirloom" version features a cabinet composed of beautifully
handcrafted veneers created by master veneer craftsmen. Or, if you
are looking for an exciting contemporary look then why not choose
the black polyester version with optional bright chrome fittings for
the same price?
At 116cm (45.5"), the Classic T is a substantial piano. With
pianos big is beautiful! The reason for this is not simply that you
get more power but rather greater dynamic range (there is more contrast
between playing pianissimo and fortissimo).
With the Classic T you have reached a plateau of excellence whereby
the piano is suitable as a domestic instrument for the most demanding
professional pianist. It will certainly see a student through to Grade
8 standard. Although a substantial piano it is compact and will not
overpower a room-space, with a depth of 58cm (compared to 61cm for
the Conservatoire model).
We always keep in stock this very popular model and offer the optional
chrome fittings at the same price as the standard model. This very
contemporary look has proved highly popular with those for an eye
for interior design.
It is available UK wide with matching adjustable stool in the following
finishes: black polyester, black polyester with chrome, mahogany polyester,
mocha oak satin with chrome and natural oak satin.

| 116 SERIES
Sauter - For good sound.
The bigger sound board of our series 116 offers more volume in sound.
The unique “Sauter Spherical Concavity®” of the sound
board produces well-balanced sound characteristics, supported by tonewood
of mountain spruce. This wood is strong on one hand, but flexible
on the other offering a wide spectrum of tone. Our good working keyboard
offers you great delight in playing. Sauter, as a manufacturer of
pianos, was first to introduce the modern truss frame made of steel,
which precludes any deformation of the clavier. Pianos of this range
are characterised by an ideal coordination between musical mechanism
and mechanics for an even lighter playing experience, allowing your
piano-playing to sound even smoother. The enlarged hammerhead makes
the tone more substantial and influences the response of the piano
to your playing.
This you will hear!
The sum of all constructive features skilfully realized in Sauter´s
manufacture, guarantee longevity.
Our perfect piano technique is available in three visually different
models:
• Cosmo – unites functional-classical aesthetics in a
piano,
• Vision – with its cubical design, the modern interpretation
of classics, and
• Nova – in its modernity.
Choose the one which appeals the most to you! Please also see our

122/130
RANGE
122/130 range- Sauter´s double repetition action for
greater pleasure in sound.
Sauter pianos of this product range are equipped with a sound board,
which is up to 25% bigger in size in comparison to the basic models.
This works in favour of the sound, due to the “Sauter Spherical
Concavity®” of the sound board. Tones are consequently amplified
paired with a sparkling liveliness in quality.
Pianos of this series are equipped with another extra: the double
repetition action of grand pianos developed by Sauter. Solved by something
as simple gravity, grand pianos overcome what is a real problem for
vertical pianos: the damper lever, which transfers the action from
key to hammer, responds far too slowly when being struck repeatedly
or in quick succession, leaving the succeeding strike soundless.
The Sauter double-repetition action of grand pianos, a solid and non-wearing
construction, permits the responsiveness of grand pianos – without
compromise. Only pianos by Sauter have this unique action. Furthermore,
pianos of the 122 / 130-series possess a finer mensure leading to
a more balanced distribution of tone from Treble to Bass.
The Competence 130 has an even bigger sound board, posing an even
bigger challenge to the action in order to hear and experience the
big and wide sonority. That is why this piano by Sauter has an even
further developed action with an optimised lever rapport. It is easier
and more controllable to add touches to the style of playing. Sauter
pianos of this product range are for passionate pianists already ‘au
fait’ with the art of playing piano.

| THE
MASTER CLASS RANGE
Sauter pianos providing concert quality.
For sound perfection, Sauter offers a series of master class pianos
– our top-of-the-range piano manufacturing. These pianos by
Sauter hit ambitious music peaks, with tones of concert quality. Further
inner qualities are added to this master class by Sauter; with it
comes the sostenuto pedal (sustaining pedal), which is usually only
to be found in grand pianos. Hence, these pianos by Sauter offer the
sound quality of a grand piano.
Thanks to the patented construction of the sustaining pedal it is
possible to adjust its function particularly well without any major
effort. Hammerheads with a core of exotic woods enhance the good tone
sensation and are ideally fine-tuned with the resonating body. For
even better tone purity, we use only the finest spruce from the “Val
di Fiemme” in the high region of South Tyrol, grown at an altitude
of 1,100 metres, for the sounding board. This wood is free of tension
and can be consequently worked very well, delivering, together with
the unique “Sauter Spherical Concavity®”, an unheard-of
pleasure in listening.
Such legendary tonewood is preferred by Cremonesian violin makers
like the ‘Stradivaris’ for centuries. Sharp tones made
of ebony, award fabulous playing sensation. Our eye catching cast
plates are hand-grounded and completed with a precious finish and
our inner body and hammer rests are covered with maple heartwood to
achieve the ultimate finish. High demands are made in piano-making
and are being met with the Master Class made by Sauter. Built for
sophisticated pianists.

| Sauter
DESIGNER RANGE– designed by Peter Maly
The piano created for today´s living concepts.
This conveys Peter Maly*, internationally recognised designer for
interiors who dealt with the subject `piano´ exclusively for
Sauter. Maly´s understanding of design is marked by original
forms combined with the utmost functionality as well as perfection
in manufacturing. Many of his designs are already recognised as modern
classics.
Sauter pianos designed by Peter Maly largely match the Sauter Master
Class pianos, with respect to their technique: the sounding board,
25% bigger, is characterised by the unique “Sauter Spherical
Concavity®” and the speciality of Sauter, the double repetition
action of grand pianos (for more detailed information please refer
to page 16). Here, as well, the sounding board is solely made from
the finest spruce from the `Val di Fiemme´ in the high region
of South Tyrol, grown at an altitude of
1,100 meters. For a better playing sensation, half tones (sharps and
flats) are made of ebony. The cast plate is hand-ground and complemented
with a precious finish. Experienced pianists, whose piano is in focus
at their home, will be thrilled by the touch and appearance of this
design piano.
* More about the works and person of the designer Peter Maly can
be found in the new book: Peter Maly, Hamburg, author Bernd Polster,
Dumont-Verlag, ISBN 978-3-8321-7771-3, published in 2007, and which
can be purchased in book stores (but it's probably all in German).

| PURE "less is more"
PURE "less is more"- as little as possible, as much as
necessary. The aim was archetypal, reduction to the essential. Nothing
superfluous, but full of concentration; stillness and tension at the
same time - just like before a big concert: PURE 2000, the purist
upright piano. Purism is the art of avoiding the superfluous. The
form radiates peace which inspires both soul and player.
Pure 2000 is like the room for which it was designed. It is an upright
which fits into a bright living environment with simple walls and
modern art. The essence of its aesthetics is the generous design which
emphasizes the surfaces.
In the "PURE 2000 noble" version, the surfaces have a gloss
lacquer finish. The characteristic corner details are emphasized by
flush-fitting chromium-plated metal sections giving this upright its
modern elegance.
Details accentuate the essential design. A fine finger groove makes
the upright easy to open.
Accessories: Chromium-plated fittings, R2 grand technology, moderator
(soft pedal), round height-adjustable feet.

red, polished white, polished black / zebrano or polished black /

| Onda, the piano in its elemental
form.
Onda, the piano in its elemental form, is the quintessence of minimalist
design.
The body and keyboard form a solid backdrop for the focal point of
the piano - an undulating panel. Yet although Onda is essentially
of simple construction, it also has something of the grand piano about
it.
Onda is the ideal complement to the new minimalist look. A spacious
room scattered with a few functional accessories and items of furniture
provides the perfect setting for the piano's simple yet stylish lines.
Materials which are typical of this look include light wood, cool
metal and fabrics in natural shades.
Onda is constructed from a number of distinct, clearly demarcated
components. Broad wooden side panels enclose the piano body, lending
it stability and substance. The keyboard - made from light beech or
maple wood like the sides - is set into the undulating panel.
The panel which forms the front of the piano has a horizontal "wave"
running through it - hence the name Onda, which means wave.
As a special design feature, Onda is fitted with two top panels which
can be opened upwards like wings. As well as forming a highly effective
sound board, they lend the instrument the feel of a grand piano.
To round off the picture, Onda stands on curved metal feet.
Features: Chrome-plated fittings, R2 Double repetition action, muffler
pedal.
Onda is available in Maple / silver and beech satined

Imago, the Avant-Garde piano, is a fascinating new creation which
redefines the concept of the piano.
A great design, extravagant and classic - the sound pattern for a
new age.

of light wood tones - modish pear, maple of beech; bright colour finishes
and cool metal.
A large, diagonal-grain pear wood panel frames the body of the piano
like a passpartout, forming an exciting contrast between the two silk-sheen
finish, different shapes and their materials. An attractive extra:
The Touch-Tronic lamps by Ingo Maurer are switched on and off or dimmed
by a simply touch.

Cura, the Shaker piano, is inspired by the puritan and perfectly
crafted furniture typical of the American Shaker religious movement
of the 18th Century.
The ideal setting for the Cura is characterised by natural materials:
by woods such as linen or cotton, along with terracotta and woolen
carpets.
"I stand in great admiration of the wonderfully simple cherry-wood
furniture of the Shakers, for it form a link with my modern design
concept, imbued as it is with the desire for the greatest possible
simplicity - whilst at the same time ensuring the highest quality
of materials and manufacture." Peter Maly
Cura has a classically-constructed frame and infill panels veneered
in cherry. Cura has hand-turned brackets of cherry-wood, and feet
and hinged candle holders in matt-finish high-grade steel. The lid
is shaped into a single elegant sweep.
The beautiful waxes finish to the piano emphasises its natural character.
RR Double repetition, music holder with leather detailing, matt chrome
finish castors and mounts.
Cura is available in cherry and pine.

1/16 tone / microtone piano.
If the term “microtonality” means anything to you it
is probably the attempt to divide up the generally accepted system
of intervals which is based on whole tone and semitone steps.
However, with microtonality it is much more an attempt to explore
the areas between the semitones of the usual system and thus to activate
new areas of tonality. In pianos this system has increasingly been
the subject of schemes and structural activity for more than 100 years.
Quarter tone instruments have already been around for a long time.
Particular pioneers of these ideas were Charles Ives and the Czech
Alois Hába who in turn extended his ideas to the 1/6 tone.
However, in 1895 the Mexican Julian Carrillo (1875 - 1965) worked
on the problem of the 1/16 tone interval for the first time, as yet
probably the smallest unit between the usual semitone step. In 1925
he devised an original notation for these ideas. Together with the
conductor Leopold Stokowski he founded an “Orquesto Sonido 13”,
in other words an ensemble which played microtonally and with which
he and Stokowski even went on tour in the ’30’s. Then
in 1940 Carrillo took out a patent on a project for 15 differently
pitched pianos. He found the piano making company Piano Maker Carl
Sauter in Spaichingen which was able to build him the relevant prototype
pianos for his project. He presented his instruments built by Sauter
in 1958 during the Brussels World Fair. These were pitched, according
to the model, from whole tone down to the sixteenth tone. Success
was not long in coming for Carrillo and the piano maker Sauter: the
instruments went on to win a gold medal in Brussels. Today two of
the instruments are in the Paris Conservatoire: one in the sixteenth
tone and one in the third tone. Others are in the Conservatoires in
Nice and Mexico City.
The sixteenth tone piano is pitched from key to key in 1/16 tone intervals
so that a normal fifth on this instrument sounds like a semitone,
missing out a 1/16 tone. From the bottom to the top tone there is
a span of exactly an octave on this piano. The sound is remarkable
as it does not have the traditional sound sensation of a piano but,
due to the continually developing vibrations of the individual tones,
completely new sound waves are produced. These tonalties result in
new challenges for a pianist and also for the composer writing for
this type of instrument. The piano stands 116 centimetres tall with
97 keys and 291 steel strings which are stretched trichordally (three
strings per tone)
